Who doesn’t love gin? This season we asked The National Distillery Company to provide our readers with a taste of their produce. Here are a couple of options to get your tastebuds primed.
New Zealand Native Gin
Where the art of distilling meets the pure pleasure of creation, this gold-medal winner and consumer favourite is a contemporary-style gin with New Zealand native botanicals kawakawa and karamu, making this gin in a class of its own.
The New Zealand Native Gin was created initially as ‘The Proof’. It then went on to win The Junipers – New Zealand’s Gin Awards for Best Contemporary Gin, so we added it to our permanent portfolio and it is now part of our core range.
THE TASTE
Lush sweetness from the karamu berry, combined with the peppery zing from kawakawa make this a well-balanced, flavoursome gin.
Verdigris Dry Gin
Inspired by a classic, juniper-led London Dry gin bouquet, with a supporting duo of lemon peel and native harakeke (New Zealand flaxseed), The National Distillery Company’s Verdigris is an approachable, easy-drinking dry gin and a great all-rounder.
THE TASTE
Traditional pine and citrus notes are embellished and guided to a deeper place by the unctuous, yet finely structured tones of New Zealand orris root.
Verdigris won gold in the ‘London Dry’ category of The New Zealand Spirit Awards 2023.
